John Legend is releasing his first ever children’s album, titled My Favorite Dream, on August 30th. The R&B superstar partnered with Grammy and Academy Award-nominated indie musician Sufjan Stevens to produce his debut collection of kids’ music. Legend praised Sufjan for his “sense of whimsy, adventure, and dreaminess,” which made him the “first and only choice” for producer on the record. The announcement of My Favorite Dream is also accompanied by the project’s lead single, “L-O-V-E,” which features contributions from Legend’s wife, Chrissy Teigen, along with their eight-year-old daughter Luna and six-year-old son Miles.
“I’m right in the thick of fatherhood,” Legend shared in a statement. “My parents loved to sing around the house, making up bedtime songs for us and songs to motivate and inspire us, and Chrissy and I also love singing to our kids…In our home, music is very important to the way we interact and communicate with them.” (Consequence of Sound)
